Fans of flowering hedges step up. Here’s Duranta alba, one of the prettiest and toughest ones you’ll find.

Alba is a low-maintenance but fast growing evergreen hedge – which makes him the perfect way to block out nosey neighbours.

Foliage is mid green and fairly dense with sprays of white flowers in the Spring and Summer months. These flowers are adored by pollinators and give out a divine vanilla scent.

You can grow Duranta in full sun and part shade without trouble. It’s hardy and trouble free – we knew you’d like it.

• What to use me for: I’m a tough flowering hedge, fill a large container to break up a boring deck, and look stunning in the border.  
• I grow to: I’ll reach 2.5 to 4 metres tall and 2.5 metres wide.
• Where to place me: I like sun and partial shade.
• How far to space me: For a tight-knit hedge I need 1 metre, for anything else around 2 metres is fine.
• Soil Conditions: I’m not fussy, but I appreciate a layer of mulch each year and water during very dry spells.

• Please note this plant is harmful if eaten and can cause skin and eye irritation.
