Hedge Hedging Plants Radermachera “Summer Scent”

Radermachera Summer Scent is one of the most versatile plants you will ever come across.

She makes a hardy compact flowering tree, an attractive hedge or compact screening plant and a stunning container plant. There’s barely anything she can’t do and that’s why we’re all secretly in love with her.

Those flowers though! Not only does she have the sweetest of lush green foliage that spreads over 2 metres, she bears a profusion of highly scented bell-shaped flowers, which are light pink with a gold throat. She’s an Oscar-winning beauty, no joke.

With all those good looks you might think she’s fussy, but no she’s drought and cold tolerant. Give her some sun or partial shade, a bed of moist well-drained soil and she’ll do you proud. An annual feed and a good thick layer of mulch on top and you’ll have a superstar plant.

• What to use me for:  What can’t you use me for! I’m a compact flowering shrub, a pretty hedge or a living screen.

• I grow to:  I’ll grow to around 3 metres x 1.5-2m

• I am currently:  20-25cms but it won’t take long, I’m a fast grower.

• Where to place me:  I’m sun and shade tolerant so anywhere you like. Deep shade isn’t my favourite though and I’ll struggle to flower without any sun at all.

• How far to space me:   I need 1-1.5m of space

• Soil Conditions: I like it moist but not swimming in liquid or boggy. Mulch is my friend.

Beautifully grown and mature in size with developed roots and guaranteed sun hardened. These plants can be inserted straight into the ground and make an excellent garden plant.
