Nandina Domestica Nana
The charming and understated Nandina Domestica is also known as sacred or heavenly bamboo but is not a true bamboo at all – it’s actually an evergreen shrub. It’s a good choice for folk who love the bamboo look but prefer non-invasive plants that are easily contained.
There are several Nandina Domestic cultivars around and we stock them in our nursery, but this one is the dwarf version ‘Nana’. It will only reach 50-60cms tall making it a good choice for a low growing evergreen hedge or a boundary marker such as a pathway.
In the cooler months its leaves turn a bright vibrant red and then in summer, it throws up panicles of tiny white flowers that mature into red berries.
This is a little shrub but it’s a tough one. It will handle full sun and all types of soil. It’s not affected many pests and diseases either so you don’t have to worry about looking after it too much.
This is a great value 10 pack of Nandina Domestica Nana.
