Photinia Glabra Rubens
Photinia glabra Rubens is a hardy evergreen shrub with large glossy green leaves that emerge bright ruby red in Springtime. Soon after the scarlet foliage appears, small white flowers arrive.
It’s a really lovely hedging shrub that’s closely related to Photinia Red Robin.
Photinia glabra Rubens is useful as either a short or tall hedge and ideal for planting light windbreaks around your seating area. It also does a great job of breaking up different areas of the garden.
This is a tough and hardy frost-tolerant evergreen that needs little from you once established. It can easily hedged at 1.5-2 metres.
Well-drained fertile soil brings out the brightest ruby reds so dig in some organic matter if your soil is a bit thin.
