Metrosideros Fiji Fire
Just take a look at our photos before you read any further. Is this not a breath-taking plant?
Metrosideros Fiji Fire is named for its dark green foliage that emerges in a flush of red new growth and a spectacular summertime show of fluffy tangerine red flowers.
You might think that this is a delicate plant given the dramatic colour, but it’s pretty hardy, tolerating coastal conditions of wind and salt.
Because the leaves are dense and small and it’ll reach about three metres, Fiji Fire is a top-notch windbreak or hedge. If you need it a bit shorter he’s happy to be pruned throughout the year.
He’ll happily grow in well-watered pots, attracting native birds.
Phew, it’s getting hot around here.
