The Begonia rex Looking Glass have you got her yet? She has large silver metallic leaves with dark green margins and deep red on the underside. She is perfect for adding colour into your tropical garden or pop her in a hanging basket indoors.
Begonias are originally from the tropics so they like it hot and humid. If your room is dry give it an occasional spritz of water or place it in the bathroom where it can soak up the steam from the shower.
There are a few tricks to owning a begonia. Water lightly but regularly. Avoid over-watering or over-feeding her and apply liquid fertiliser at half dilution every 8 weeks for best results. It’s good to note that the foliage can die back during the cooler months when plants become dormant. Try to avoid feeding and reduce watering until plants develop new leaves. Repot during spring only if plants become rootbound and please protect her from the frost she’s cold sensitive.
