Philodendron erubescens Pink Princess.
This one for all the pink lovers out there.
She’s as rare as she is variegated. Her deep green to blackish and pink coloured leaf is what every grower is looking for – pinker, please!
No two patterns are the same and individual plants display varying amounts of pink through the leaves. Some leaves have large pink splashes, and other leaves are plain dark green. This is the fun part of owning a Pink Princess – every new leaf is a surprise.
We offer a larger Pink Princess plant with Pot option but be sure to get in quickly when you see this one in stock because it’s very popular.
Variegation is what you’re after – so we will make sure the plant you receive has at least one pink splash. Note: plants can revert back to original form. Read more about plant variegation here.
Caring for her is easy. She’s happy in bright, indirect light and enjoys damp (but not wet) soils – allow it to dry out between waterings. Good light is needed in order to maximise the colouration in Pink Princess, just don’t place her in full sun otherwise you will cause damage – her pink areas are more sensitive to the sun and will burn easily.
Pink Princess is a vining plant by nature, so be sure to give it a trellis or post to climb on. As it grows, loosely tie the vine to the support structure.
Yes, you want her to have pinker than pink leaves but be careful what you wish for! All pink leaves have no chlorophyll (green) and if you don’t look after her, she will slowly decline. No chlorophyll means it will be hard for your plant to sustain itself as the plant is pretty much starving herself. Balance in non-variegated and variegated leaves on your plant is always best.
If your plant has started to grow all green leaves or all pink leaves, you’ll need to prune her back a bit. Simply prune back to the next leaf that has balance variegation.
