Flirt TM Nandina domestica ‘MURASAKI’
is better known as heavenly or sacred bamboo, but it’s not a true bamboo – it’s actually an evergreen shrub. If you love bamboo but don’t love how it takes over your garden this is a great alternative.
This new version of Murasaki heavenly bamboo is called Flirt. It’s a spreading dwarf cultivar that’s spot-on as a low-growing hedge.
It has evergreen leaves that turn vibrant shades of red and burgundy in the winter, often brighter than its Nandina Domestica cousins, then in spring, you’ll spot unmistakable sprays of white flowers that slowly mature into red berries held up in the air like a music gig banner.
Despite the pretty colours, this is a tough little shrub that can withstand frost and drought once established.
