Alternanthera ficoidea Snow on the Mountain – Related to the more well-known Joseph’s Coat is a fast-growing shrub grown for its variegated, showy foliage. The new foliage appears at the tips of the plant in dense, pure white clusters. The mature leaves are crinkled and have splashes of green, white and pink that looks like snow on a mountain. These little babies form a nice mounding habit and are easily managed with a quick prune.
You can also plant me in a mixed planter to get the stark contrast between green and white foliage. I would love to be placed in full sun (except in extremely hot areas) to part shade, please if you can and well-draining soil.
They do tend to start off a little small and floppy, but with time and sun will fill out, stand up, and develop their colours; if they are kept too shady, the tops will not turn as pure a white and the stems will remain limp.
