Rhoeo Dwarf “Moses in the Cradle” is also known as Tradescantia spathacea Dwarf
Moses in the Cradle is a Rhoeo, but a dwarf form of this all-time favourite.
It’s a sweet little ornamental plant that has sword-shaped leaves and quirky white flower bracts shaped like a boat (that’s where Moses comes in). Rhoeo Dwarf is an easily grown plant best in warm tropical areas.
The small stature but rapid growth habit means it’s ideal for the rockery, as a ground cover or edging. It looks just grand growing down an embankment where it happily grows babies that creep out from the main base and cover even more ground.
This one thrives in sunny to partly shaded spaces and needs moist well-drained soil. They don’t like to be too wet, especially when the weather is cold. It will tolerate some dryness though, so don’t panic if the rains hold off.
Mulch and water these well until they’re established and Dwarf Moses will fill your garden with his descendants.
