Hedera Helix Variegata – you’ll know this better as Common or English Ivy.
This variegated evergreen creeper covers unsightly walls, trees, fences and the side of a house without any tying in – it has small ‘caterpillar feet’ aerial roots on a woody stem that grip a surface and just keeps going up.
This creeper loves full sun and shade, it’ll grow almost anywhere without making a fuss. In summer it produces small barely noticeable flowers that pollinators love, and then in autumn, its small berries feed the birds.
If you’re after a no-nonsense trailing hanging basket you can’t do better than English Ivy. It needs an occasional water but that’s about it.
He will grow approx 3 metres wide in landscapes and the variegated foliage brightens up a shady area – the perfect choice for a garden fence lying in shade.
*Please note this plant is regarded as a significant environmental weed in Victoria, the ACT, South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania so we can only send to QLD, we are sorry for any inconvenience.
