Ophiopogon Japonicus – Mondo Grass is commonly known as ‘Mondo Grass’ or ‘Dwarf Lily turf’ but whatever you want to call it you can’t escape the fact this stuff is really, really useful.
Growing to around 20cms tall it forms clumps of evergreen strap-shaped dark green leaves that look like grass but in summer throws up little purple flowers that turn into small blue fruits.
It’s traditionally used in the rockery, but also makes great no-mow grass around paving blocks, along a pathway, beneath the car parking space if you want to green up the front garden, or in a low maintenance pot.
Useful and hardy Mondo Grass can withstand drought and you can walk over it now and then if you don’t jump on it. It’s what we like to call ‘no-maintenance’. Seriously, everyone should have this plant it’s a favourite of ours for its no-nonsense textured feel and pretty little fruits.
This is a great value 8 pack of Ophiopogon Japonicus – Mondo Grass
