Hibbertia Vestita Little Rocker
We all need decent ground cover. In summer it stops the soil from drying out and in winter it prevents soil being washed away.
Hibbertia Vestita Little Rocker is a native plant that fits the ground cover bill to perfection. It’s a small, spreading groundcover with dark green leaves and masses of bright yellow flowers in the warmer months.
Native plants are the way to go when you’re time-pressed, because they suit the climate and soil conditions.
If you have a rockery, a bank, or lots of large shrubs, mass plant Little Rocker liberally. Honestly, the more you plant the better it looks.
This toughy is another of our ‘no-maintenance’ plants. He’ll tolerate heat, sun and coastal conditions with no fuss required.
Just give plenty of water until he’s established and then sit back to admire the carpet of pretty green and yellow. Each plant will reach a maximum of a metre in width so he’s good value too.
Quick Facts:
- What to use me for: Ground cover on a slope, under shrubs, and in a rockery. I also suit the edges of large containers.
- I grow to: I’ll reach 30cms high and spread over a metre.
- Where to place me: I like the sun and I’m happy in coastal conditions
- How far to space me: Give me 75cms of space to spread my wings if you’re mass planting a carpet.
- Soil Conditions: Anything that isn’t waterlogged. I’ll grow best in fertile soil but make the best of it anywhere.
