If you’re looking for a low maintenance flowering shrub that can cope with coastal conditions with salt spray and drought, meet Metrosideros Spring Fire.

With lime green to silvery foliage and red-orange bottlebrush flowers, Spring Fire brightens your garden without any fuss.

This beauty is best used to create hedges or screening. She can be pruned to create a smart formal hedge or left unpruned to create an informal screen. Either way, wildlife adores the safety of her branches and the nectar from those popping spring flowers.

Quick Facts: 

• What to use me for: I’m a tough low maintenance hedge or screen with pretty flowers and a haven for wildlife.

• I grow to: I’ll reach five metres high and two metres wide.

• Where to place me: I like sun to part sun on my branches.

• How far to space me: About a metre, but if you have really nosey neighbours, space me 60cms apart for a tighter hedge.

• Watering conditions: Drought tolerant once established 

• Soil Conditions: Anywhere really, but I do need free draining soil.

• My features: My flowers attract birds and bees
