Syzygium ‘Aussie Compact’

Lilly Pilly Aussie Compact is a medium-sized evergreen that forms a dense and compact shrub perfect for mid-height hedging and screens.

This is a firm favourite with its glossy green leaves and bronze-tinged new foliage that grows densely to block out prying eyes. In spring it attracts pollinators with fluffy white flowers and in summer birds adore the edible berries.

Use it as screening or shake it up as a container plant on the bleak patio or poolside. You could play around with some topiary too.

This is a tough medium-sized Lilly Pilly that can deal with light frosts and drought once established and its Psyllid resistant – woohoo!

Quick Facts: 

• What to use me for: Perfect for tight hedging or screening and tough dependable container plant.

• I grow to: A good height of 3 metres by 1.5 metres wide but can be kept much smaller with regular pruning.

• I am currently:  A compact baby at 15 cms

• Where to place me:  I love full sun but like partial shade too. 

• How far to space me: One metre of space, please.

• Soil Conditions: I’m not fussy about soil providing it’s reasonably fertile and free from standing water. Mulch is my friend and slow release fertiliser helps new growth.
